Minneapolis and North Shore

July 17-25  More Photos in the Portfolio

We traveled to Minneapolis to see the Yankees play the Twins (our 29th Baseball Park).  The Mall of America was also a sight to see with four floors of shops and an amusement park in the middle – (no photos to bore you on that).  We visited a sculpture garden with the most prominent feature a very large spoon with cherry. Another day we visited the Mississippi River water front which is the site of the only waterfall on the entire river. This is the site of an old stone railroad bridge. At one time this was a site of the most flour mills in the world (now mostly torn down) but one is still standing as a museum a good history lesson.  The brands still exist as Pillsbury and Gold Medal.  Our next destinations were lighthouses and waterfalls along the North Shore of Lake Superior as far as Grand Marais where we stayed on the Lake.  We visited quite a few waterfalls and Split Rock Lighthouse and the lighthouse at Two Harbors on the way back to Duluth.

  1. Charles – Your pix are just SO WELL DONE. You really have an artistic talent. It’s hard to choose a favorite. I guess the lighthouse and the boat in the fog are at the top, but your views of the spoon are amazing as well. And.. I always like waterfalls. Oh well, they are all just great!
